In 1990, at the age of 17, Jeffrey was wrongfully convicted of the murder of a classmate in a small town in New York State. He spent nearly 16 years in prison for a crime he did not commit until DNA testing in 2006 finally confirmed his innocence. Since being exonerated, Jeff has gone on to become a lawyer, educator, and advocate. He has started his own foundation, (Deskovic Foundation) which is dedicated to exonerating the wrongfully convicted, helping exonerees with their recovery, and lobbying for criminal justice reform.
