In 2014 Mark Farrant served as a juror in the first degree murder trial of Farshad Badakhshan in Toronto, Ontario. The experience altered the path of his life, prompting him to become a passionate advocate for jury reform in Canada. Mark has worked tirelessly to improve the support jurors receive in Canada. He has, and continues to, lobby governments throughout Canada to pass jury reforms and increase the support jurors receiving during and after their service. Mark has been instrumental in some recent jury reforms in Canada. His efforts led to a 2018 Report from the Standing Committee of Justice and Human Rights, titled, "Improving Support For Jurors In Canada" which provided recommendations on how to improve Canada's jury system and support for jurors.
