Two of the most important things you can do as a leader are showing gratitude and appreciation. This can be done using four simple, powerful words which are spoken far less than should be. Those four powerful words are, "I'm Sorry," and "Thank You." Saying "thank you" and "I'm sorry" at work is powerful. These simple acts, when genuine, can yield unexpected results. Expressing thanks and apologies "are critical elements to a successful company culture and a manager-employee relationship that is built on trust and authenticity. Using these four words is not a sign of weakness. On the contrary, it shows humility, compassion, and appreciation. In short, a simple act of humanity.
