He Does What!?Richard Stirzaker studied Agricultural Science and completed his PhD at the University of Sydney. He joined CSIRO in 1990 and is currently a Principal Research Scientist based in Canberra working on irrigation, water productivity and the ecological footprint of agriculture. He is also an honorary professor in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. In 2016 Stirzaker started the Virtual Irrigation Academy (VIA) to undertake specific research work in Africa. VIA soon took off, as more people heard about the work being done. VIA looks to empower irrigators through simple technology and people-centred learning. The unique VIA monitoring tools give output as colours, enabling farmers to merge the science of irrigation with their own practical experience. VIA is used in 19 different countries and is used by over 2000 farmers.Show Notes VIA Homehttps://via.farm/Video with Dave Pocock talking about the Chameleonhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlngqjMwdp4A clip of Richards backyardhttps://www.abc.net.au/gardening/factsheets/the-backyard-laboratory/9440802
