I came across an article on Forbes today written by Kiona N Smith that describes Yuri Gagarin's experience in space in 1961.  Decades later, the author Frank White coined a term for the sudden awareness of our planet's beauty and vulnerability that astronauts from multiple countries kept describing.  He called it The Overview Effect.

Today’s article made me think of moments in my life where a shift in perspective has brought on a positive effect. A lot of times we go about our day, thick in the weeds with this or that, and it can be hard to see the forest for the trees. My takeaway from today’s article is that sometimes we get clarity and peace of mind from seeing the big picture.  And this clarity can remove doubt about what and why we’re doing what we do. It can also point us in the direction of what we should do.

What does the Overview Effect mean to you in your life?
