President Biden’s recent executive order canceling student debt is a two-edged sword, both vigorously applauded and widely criticized. While this is beneficial for the 40 million individuals who have student loans, it is bad public policy that puts the burden of financing this on the rest of society. The borrowers, however, should not be chastised for taking advantage of the larges. Given the opportunity, we would all do the same.
