Mattie E. Newton Harrison, 93, of Demopolis died Oct. 1, 2022 at Noland Hospital in Tuscaloosa, following a brief illness. She was born Sept. 17, 1929 in Mt. Vernon to Hendley and Clara Newton. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She was raised in a Christian home in the Bashi community and married Wallace Harrison. She was a homemaker and lived in Leroy and Demopolis for many years. She enjoyed her volunteer work with Salvation Army and was an avid Crimson Tide and Atlanta Braves fan.
