I had an interesting day when I dealt with the government bureaucracy last Friday. Somewhere in the past year or two, I had lost my social security card. Never thought about needing its physical presence again since I knew the number by heart. The way I found I had to show it somewhere was when I went to get the gold star added to my driver’s license.
