The Thomasville City Council at its meeting Monday, Jan. 9 accepted the official roster of the Thomasville Fire Department. The action is something that is done every January. The department elects its own officers and for the first time in a few years has a new fire chief, Russell Mott who succeeded Richard Pugh. Mott is a third generation fireman and the third person in his family to be chief of the Thomasville department. His father Roy “Junior” Mott Jr. was chief as was his grandfather, Roy Laverne Mott.
