March 22, 1979 Spring! It has so many definitions. If you consult a dictionary it sounds a little bit prosaic. The one I used is a 1957 issue of Thorndike Barnhart. There were twelve meanings, such as: move rapidly, leap, fly back, burst forth. As a noun, there were ten listed. Number five said, “A season in North America when plants begin to grow.” Perhaps a newer dictionary would have a more lyrical description. But a Webster printed in 1971 only said, “The season between winter and summer.” Someone has listed the ten most beautiful words in the English language...
