It looks like Highway 5 will be closed to through-traffic between Pine Hill and Sunny South a good while longer as a lot of work remains to be done on the Moccasin Creek bridge in Pine Hill. The highway was closed in mid-January and a reopening date of April 15 was announced. The official detour from the Alabama Department of Transportation is via Highways 10 and 25 but most locals are using Wilcox County 27 (Old 5) between Sunny South and Pine Hill.
