Major highway projects for the Southwest Alabama Region of the Alabama Department of Transportation for the immediate area include building a new four-lane highway from Thomasville to just south of Linden as part of the new West Alabama Highway project and the replacement of the Jim Folsom Bridge over the Tombigbee River on Highway 84 at Coffeeville.
