Zeke’s Gas Station opened in 1951 at the corner of Safford Avenue and West Front Street. At one time, six other service stations did business in downtown Thomasville, but Zeke’s was the last remaining one when it closed in 1998. Owned by Zeke and Catherine Downey, Zeke’s served customers for over 48 years. Now, the Downey children, Sue and Scotty, have brought the historic gas station back to life, but with a twist. Instead of gas and oil products, Zeke’s has come back to life with antiques, vintage items and curiosities in a unique shopping venue called Zeke’s Antique Station....
