Alabama’s newest area code, 483, will be added as an overlay to the existing 334 area code for much of central and southeast Alabama by the third quarter of 2026. Cities such as Montgomery, Dothan, Auburn and Selma will be included in the switch, which will occur on Feb. 23, 2026. Rates and services will not change. All local calls within the 334 area code must use a 10-digit number.
