A well-known Jackson and Orange Beach businessman died in an accident in rural northeastern Clarke County Sunday afternoon. George W. Skipper III was at the family camp in the Chance area. Skipper was driving an SUV that slipped off an unpaved road and got stuck. Two passengers, who were not identified, got out to walk some distance to get help. Skipper apparently kept working with the vehicle trying to get it unstuck. Somehow it caught fire and he was unable to get out.
