Thomasville resumed its Youth Day celebration this past Saturday, kicking off the spring and summer youth ball programs. Mayor Sheldon Day called it a great day, saying there are more than 450 youth ages 12 and under playing on 39 teams. That doesn’t include those in older ball programs. A parade of the teams showcased the players. The numbers are remarkable and will likely grow. Parks and Recreation Director Matthew Sparks did a great job in having the fields ready, Day said. He also credited what must be more than 100 coaches and volunteers who work with the youth.
