34 years agoMarch 1988 Effective May 1, the First Bank of Grove Hill will change its name to First Bank and Trust, President John J. Becton announced this week. The name was proposed by First Bank of Grove Hill employee Amanda Newton in a contest that solicited new name suggestions from stockholders and staff. It is a combination of the Grove Hill bank and Jackson Bank and Trust. The two banks are in the process of merging.
