40 years agoJuly 15, 1982 American Can Company and James River Corporation jointly announced on July 2 the sale of certain assets of American Can’s paper and forest-based businesses to a wholly-owned subsidiary of James River. The transaction included the sale of the domestic operations of American Can’s Dixie business, as well as its towel and tissue and folding carton operations. James River has received a long-term contractual rights to pulpwood from American Can’s timberlands in the South and Great Lakes Regions.
