49 years agoAug. 4, 1973 City Superintendent Robert T. Short announces the City Schools will open Tuesday, September 5. Institute for teachers will be held on Friday, August 30. Mr. Short stated that the staff qualification for both city schools are superior. Nineteen teachers hold the master’s degree; 32 have a bachelor’s; and eight are beginning master’s program. There are no non-degree teachers in the system. Fred W. Kilgore, Jr., Extension Farm Agent in Sumter County since 1954, has been appointed Extension Chairman for Clarke County.
