George E.W. Jones, 98, of Jackson, passed away peacefully Dec. 8, 2022 at his home. He was born Oct. 28, 1924 to Eva Christine Jones and Archibald Coran Jones. George and his wife Sybil Jones were married for 74 years, having wed on Aug. 29, 1948; their first date was hunting alligators! Jones was known by his family and in his community as a hardworking man who enjoyed collecting antiques, including an airplane that he had parked under his carport.
