The Clarke County Commission agreed to opioid settlements with several drug makers and sellers at their Tuesday meeting even though they don’t know what the county’s share of the settlements will be. A March 6 deadline for agreeing to the settlements necessitated action on the matter without knowledge of what the settlement would be. Commission Chairman Jackie Ray Rush realistically noted that even if the county did know in advance it wouldn’t have much choice but to participate.
