Clarke County school board member Darryl Perryman suggested at the Feb. 23 board meeting that the white majority board controls who is elected president of the group to the disadvantage of the board’s black minority. Perryman, who is black, suggested if the three white board members “decided they don’t want a black president there is no way” for a black to be elected.
