Billy Gardner, a former area high school teacher and coach pleaded guilty last week to transmitting obscene materials and was sentenced to three years of supervised probation. The sentence was issued March 14 by Circuit Judge Perry Newton during the Washington County court term in Chatom. Gardner’s sentence was for 10 years but was amended in a reverse split sentence to reflect the probation. He must register as a sex offender and not have contact with the juvenile victim or the family.
