Savage and violent storms have ravaged Clarke County, southwest Alabama and the rest the state and parts of the southeast U.S. for nearly a week. The unusual storms have been almost daily, blowing up suddenly, dumping torrents of rain with strong winds and sometimes hail. Tornadoes have been associated with the storms but none reported in Clarke County. However, the winds were as bad as a tornado, downing trees, limbs and power poles and lines.
