While Alabama will not be in the path of totality for the April 8 solar eclipse, state residents can still see it. Viewers in Montgomery and other portions of Alabama’s River Region will see about 81% of the sun’s surface covered, according to Auburn University at Montgomery associate professor Randy Russell, who said the eclipse in Montgomery starts at 12:40 p.m. and lasts until 3:17.
