The Demopolis Lock and Dam reopened ahead of schedule on May 16, fourth months after it was breached, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mobile District. Lt. Gen. Scott A. Spellmon, the commanding general for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, had confirmed repairs to the dam were schedule and said it would reopen on May 30.
