Last week I could not complete a column because I was in the hospital for a planned lung biopsy. The surgeon used video-assisted surgery to remove a pea-sized piece of tissue from my lower left lung. We had been watching this slow-growing speck closely for almost two years, waiting for it to either recede or reach a size where it could be effectively removed.
