WARRENSBURG — The Optimist Club of Warrensburg unveiled a memorial bench in honor of the late Don Schawo at a dedication ceremony Thursday, June 9, at Marr Park.  The bench unveiling was kept as a surprise to Schawo’s wife, Jan, who was told the gathering was for maintenance the club does at the park every summer.   “Our thing was, we did stuff together … although wives could not be members they did encourage our participation in projects and stuff, so we could do it as a couple,” Jan Schawo said.  In 1987, women were allowed to join the club...
