The Parable of the Ten Bridesmaids
At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet
the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise.
3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them.
4 The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.
5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
6 “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’
So suddenly there’s a Wake Up Call!
7 “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps.
8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’
9 “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil
and buy some for yourselves.’
Tell your neighbor: GET YOUR OWN OIL! (I got oil for me– you gotta get your own!)
10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. (The bridegroom
represents Jesus - So suddenly Jesus shows up!) The virgins who were ready went in with him to the
wedding banquet. And the door was shut.
11 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’
Imagine those girls banging on the door: OPEN THE DOOR, JESUS! LORD, LET US IN!!
12 “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.”
So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you
to be with me that you also may be where I am. - John 14:3
5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell
asleep.
You CAN NOT FIGHT today’s battles with yesterday's oil!
8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’
9 “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil
and buy some for yourselves.’
10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were
ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.
They were shut out! Can you imagine: Jesus slams the door in your face??
11 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’
Imagine those girls banging: OPEN THE DOOR! LET US IN!!
12 “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.”
Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of
the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. - James 5:13-14
• PRAYER OF SALVATION - Jesus, here I am! I admit... I’m dry! I’ve been asleep! In so many

all of me... to all of you. Now & forever! In Jesus’ Name... Amen! Amen! Amen!
PASTOR MATT MOULIERT FROM CROSSROADS CHURCH BRINGS US AN INSPIRING WORD OF HOW GOD WORKED AND IS STILL WORKING IN HIS LIFE.
WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT LINKS EVERY HUMAN BEING ON EARTH?
ANSWER…SUFFERING
GOD AT WORK
(IN SUFFERING)
I will not die but live and proclaim what the LORD has done
Psalm 118:17
SUFFERING DOESN’T HAVE TO DEFINE YOU
IN SUFFERING GOD GIVES YOU HIS VERY BEST…HIS PRESENCE
If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he
will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your
Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up
Daniel 3:17-18
Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t
there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly, Your
Majesty.” 25 He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed,
and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”
Daniel 3:24-25
SUFFERING REMINDS US THAT WE ARE NOT IN CONTROL
He had seven sons and three daughters, 3 and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand
camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of
servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East.
Job 1:2-3
At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship
21 and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and
the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.” 22 In all this, Job did not sin by
charging God with wrongdoing.
Job 1:20-22
SUFFERING MOVES YOUR THEOLOGY
we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings,
because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and
character, hope.
Romans 5:3-4
SUFFERING WILL END ONE DAY
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or
pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
Revelation 21:4
SUFFERING OPENS DOORS
God had the power to save Jesus from death. And while Jesus was on earth, he begged God
with loud crying and tears to save him. He truly worshiped God, and God listened to his
prayers.
Hebrews 5:6 (CEV)
Jesus is God's own Son, but still he had to suffer before he could learn what it really means to
obey God. 9 Suffering made Jesus perfect, and now he can save forever all who obey him
Hebrews 5:8-9 (CEV)
Jesus’ greatest suffering (the cross) was turned into the greatest victory of all (our salvation)
THERE IS ALWAYS PURPOSE IN SUFFERING

NEHEMIAH 3
Builders of the Wall
3 Eliashib the high priest and his fellow priests went to work and rebuilt the Sheep Gate. They dedicated it and set its doors in place, building as far as the Tower of the Hundred, which they dedicated, and as far as the Tower of Hananel.
2 The men of Jericho built the adjoining section, and Zakkur son of Imri built next to them.
3 The Fish Gate was rebuilt by the sons of Hassenaah. They laid its beams and put its doors and bolts and bars in place.
4 Meremoth son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, repaired the next section. Next to him Meshullam son of Berekiah, the son of Meshezabel, made repairs, and next to him Zadok son of Baana also made repairs.
5 The next section was repaired by the men of Tekoa, but their nobles would not put their shoulders to the work under their supervisors.
31 Next to him, Malkijah, one of the goldsmiths, made repairs as far as the house of the temple servants and the merchants, opposite the Inspection Gate, and as far as the room above the corner; 32 and between the room above the corner and the Sheep Gate the goldsmiths and merchants made repairs.
IT TAKES ALL OF US
Nehemiah 3:12 Shallum son of Hallohesh, ruler of a half-district of Jerusalem, repaired the next section with the help of his daughters.
SOME DID MORE AND SOME DID LESS ACCORDING TO THEIR ABILITY
Nehemiah 3:28 Above the Horse Gate, the priests made repairs, each in front of his own house.
Nehemiah 3:13 The Valley Gate was repaired by Hanun and the residents of Zanoah. They rebuilt it and put its doors with their bolts and bars in place. They also repaired a thousand cubits of the wall as far as the Dung Gate.
EACH WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO REPAIR THE DESTRUCTION AND REBUILDING OF JERUSALEM AND THE WALLS SURROUNDING IT.
Nehemiah 3:20 Next to him, Baruch son of Zabbai zealously repaired another section, from the angle to the entrance of the house of Eliashib the high priest.

Nehemiah 4:15
When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to the wall, each to our own work.
16 From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah 17 who were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, 18 and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked.

Ephesians 4:11-16 (ESV)
11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Spiritual formation is the process of being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ for the glory of God and for the sake of others (II Corinthians 3:17-18).
Malachi 1:6-14
6 “A son honors his father, and a servant his master. But if I am a father, where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is your fear of me? says the Lord of Armies to you priests, who despise my name.”
Yet you ask, “How have we despised your name?”
7 “By presenting defiled food on my altar.”
“How have we defiled you?” you ask.
When you say, “The Lord’s table is contemptible.”
Psalm 139:23-24
Christian Standard Bible
23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my concerns.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me;
lead me in the everlasting way.
Matthew 22:37
Christian Standard Bible
37 He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
Malachi 1
8 “When you present a blind animal for sacrifice, is it not wrong? And when you present a lame or sick animal, is it not wrong? Bring it to your governor! Would he be pleased with you or show you favor?” asks the Lord of Armies.
Malachi 1
9 “And now plead for God’s favor. Will he be gracious to us? Since this has come from your hands, will he show any of you favor?” asks the Lord of Armies. 10 “I wish one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would no longer kindle a useless fire on my altar! I am not pleased with you,” says the Lord of Armies, “and I will accept no offering from your hands.
11 “My name will be great among the nations, from the rising of the sun to its setting. Incense and pure offerings will be presented in my name in every place because my name will be great among the nations,” says the Lord of Armies.
These people make a big show of saying the right thing,
but their heart isn’t in it.
They act like they’re worshiping me,
but they don’t mean it.
Revelation 3:15-22
The Message
15-17 “I know you inside and out, and find little to my liking. You’re not cold, you’re not hot—far better to be either cold or hot! You’re stale. You’re stagnant.
Revelation 3:15-22
Christian Standard Bible
15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot. 16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth.
Malachi 1
12 “But you are profaning it when you say, ‘The Lord’s table is defiled, and its product, its food, is contemptible.’ 13 You also say, ‘Look, what a nuisance!’ And you scorn it,” says the Lord of Armies. “You bring stolen, lame, or sick animals. You bring this as an offering! Am I to accept that from your hands?” asks the Lord.
14 “The deceiver is cursed who has an acceptable male in his flock and makes a vow but sacrifices a defective animal to the Lord. For I am a great King,” says the Lord of Armies, “and my name will be feared among the nations.
2 Samuel 24:24
Christian Standard Bible
24 The king answered Araunah, “No, I insist on buying it from you for a price, for I will not offer to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for twenty ounces of silver.
Malachi 3:2-4
Christian Standard Bible
2 But who can endure the day of his coming? And who will be able to stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire and like launderer’s bleach. 3 He will be like a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver. Then they will present offerings to the Lord in righteousness. 4 And the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will please the Lord as in days of old and years gone by.
Let’s stand
2 Corinthians 3:17-18

17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.

1 Peter 1:3–5 (NIV):
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
PRACTICAL HOPE James 2:14–17 (NIV):
14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

2 Corinthians 4:8–10 (NIV):
8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
I am part of the "Fellowship of the Unashamed."
The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line.
The decision has been made. I am a disciple of
Jesus Christ. I won't look back, let up, slow down,
back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present
makes sense, and my future is secure.
I am finished and done with low living, sight walking,
small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams,
chintzy giving, and dwarfed goals.
I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position,
promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I now live by
presence, lean by faith, love by patience,
lift by prayer, and labor by power. My pace
is set, my gait is fast, my goal is Heaven, my
road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions few,
my Guide reliable, my mission clear. I cannot be bought,
compromised, deterred, lured away, turned back,
diluted, or delayed.
I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the
presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy,
ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander
in the maze of mediocrity.
I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I must go until
Heaven returns, give until I drop, preach until all know,
and work until He comes. And when He comes to get
His own, He will have no problem recognizing me.
My colors will be clear.

5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.

PART 2
THE PAIN
GENESIS 42:24 He turned away from them and began to weep, but then came back and spoke to them again.
Genesis 43:29–31 (NIV): 29 As he looked about and saw his brother Benjamin, his own mother’s son, he asked, “Is this your youngest brother, the one you told me about?” And he said, “God be gracious to you, my son.” 30 Deeply moved at the sight of his brother, Joseph hurried out and looked for a place to weep. He went into his private room and wept there. 31 After he had washed his face, he came out and, controlling himself, said, “Serve the food.”
Genesis 45:1–2 (NIV): Then Joseph could no longer control himself before all his attendants, and he cried out, “Have everyone leave my presence!” So there was no one with Joseph when he made himself known to his brothers. 2 And he wept so loudly that the Egyptians heard him, and Pharaoh’s household heard about it.
THE PURPOSE OF THE PAIN
Genesis 45:4–8 (NIV): 4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! 5 And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. 6 For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. 7 But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. 8 “So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.

Genesis 43:29–31 (NIV):
29 As he looked about and saw his brother Benjamin, his own mother’s son, he asked, “Is this your youngest brother, the one you told me about?” And he said, “God be gracious to you, my son.” 30 Deeply moved at the sight of his brother, Joseph hurried out and looked for a place to weep. 1 Kings 19 19 Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.” 3 Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, 4 while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” 5 Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep.

SUMMER ROAD TRIP SERIES PART 2
Galatians 5:19-25 (NIV) The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
Our lives as disciples should bear proof of and be defined by how we love God and how we love people!
Matthew 22:37-40 (NIV) Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
LOVE IS NOT A SUGGESTION BUT IT IS A REQUIREMENT.
BOTH LINES BELOW ON A SINGLE SLIDE YOU CANNOT LOVE GOD AND NOT LOVE PEOPLE.
YOU CANNOT LOVE PEOPLE AND NOT LOVE GOD.
John 13:34-35 (NIV) A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”' Application Questions: Where do you get your definition of Love from? Who or what defines love for you?
GOD IS LOVE. THEREFORE WE MUST DEFINE LOVE THE WAY HE DOES.
APPLICATION QUESTION: HOW DOES GOD DEFINE LOVE?
GOD’S LOVE IS UNLIMITED
Matthew 5:43-48 (NKJV) “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.’”
GOD’S LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL.
GOD’S LOVE IS UNCIRCUMSTANTIAL.
Romans 5:8 NKJV But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
GOD’S LOVE IS UNSELFISH.
John 15:11-13 (NIV) “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
I John 3:16 NKJV By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
APPLICATION: Is the fruit of love the kind of love that is UNLIMITED - UNCONDITIONAL - UNCIRCUMSTANTIAL - UNSELFISH?
IN ORDER TO LOVE LIKE JESUS WE NEED TO ABIDE IN JESUS!
John 15:5-12 NIV “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

1) THE EMBRACE OF THE FATHER SPEAKS VALUE
Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
VALUE: the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.

Hebrews 12:4–13 (NIV): It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, 6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”
11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. 12 Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. 13 “Make level paths for your feet,” so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.
Proverbs 3:11-12 (The Passion Translation) 11My child, when the Lord God speaks to you, never take his words lightly, and never be upset when he corrects you. 12 For the Father’s discipline comes only from his passionate love and pleasure for you. Even when it seems like his correction is harsh, it’s still better than any father on earth gives to his child.

The Blessed Life Week 6 THE PRINCIPLES OF MULTIPLICATION DON’T EAT THE BLESSING
God is a God who can MULTIPLY resources!
LUKE 9:12-17 (NIV) 12 Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said, “Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here.” 13 He replied, “You give them something to eat.” They answered, “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd.” 14 (About five thousand men were there.) But he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” 15 The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. 16 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people.17 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
BLESSED > BROKEN < MULTIPLIED
JOHN 12:24 (NCV) I tell you the truth, a grain of wheat must fall to the ground and die to make many seeds. But if it never dies, it remains only a single seed.

Matthew 17:20 (ESV) He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
What if the disciples had eaten it after it had been blessed! LUKE 9:12-17 12 baskets = OVERFLOW …. Are you living in the overflow The bread was blessed and had the potential to multiply, but what if they had eaten it themselves?
AS A CHRIST FOLLOWER YOU ARE BLESSED SO YOU CAN BLESS OTHERS

The Blessed Life Week 5 AM I GENEROUS?
JOHN 12 (NIV) Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. 3 Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.
7 “Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. 8 You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.”
TWO QUESTIONS:
(1) WHY DID SHE WANT TO GIVE SUCH A GENEROUS GIFT TO THE JESUS?
(2) AND WHY DID IT BOTHER JUDAS SO MUCH?
THERE ARE TWO HEARTS REVEALED IN THIS PASSAGE:
A generous heart and a selfish heart
The subject of giving revealed both hearts!
Proverbs 11:25 A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Luke 16:11 11 If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?
APPLICATION: WHAT IS STOPPING YOU FROM GENEROSITY?
2 Corinthians 8:5 … they first gave themselves to the Lord ...
The most extravagant gift you can give to God is yourself!
There are 3 levels of giving: • Tithes, Offerings, and Extravagant Offerings!
Where did Mary she get this generous heart?
Mark 14:8 She has done what she could. She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial.
Mark 14:9 Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her."
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
God is an extravagant rewarder!

Happy Mother’s Day 2022!
I want to throw some confetti for all the women in the house today!
I love confetti!
When I think of confetti, I think of JOY, CELEBRATION, HAPPINESS!
The definition of Confetti
Small bits of paper, usually colored, thrown or dropped from a height to enhance the Joy and happiness of a festive event, as a parade, wedding, or New Year’s Eve party.
We immediately think of confetti in terms of celebration - we are celebrating something wonderful in our life!
But do you know what confetti is?
paper - shredded paper! Not even a full sheet of paper! It is torn from a full sheet of discarded paper…. Paper that has been recycled, re-purposed
I heard a lady named Maghon Taylor on a podcast share about her small business…
She owns a company called “All she Wrote Notes” and She is a hand letterer or does calligraphy as a profession - her company has partnered with national retailers such as Neiman Marcus, West Elm, Pottery Barn, Anthropologie and Swoozies
This is what she said….
I mess up writing all day - misspell something….. a letter or word and it doesn’t look beautiful
I started turning all of my mistakes into confetti…..
I take the scrap paper and I run it through the shredder and it makes the most beautiful confetti that you have ever seen
Then she said this….
You can turn your mess, your mistakes and the hard parts of your life into confetti -
If you look at confetti, that is what it is - it is the scrap paper - the cast away - it is trash -
It is just re-packaged - and now it has a really cool job and living a beautiful life
Can you relate?
Look at these beautiful bright colors -
and maybe you are sitting here thinking BRIGHT COLORS, JOY, CELEBRATION, HAPPINESS - those are words that do NOT describe my life -
I want to propose to you because Satan has tried to take, to steal, to rob the very color out of your life - the joy out of your life but before this message is over, my prayer is that you will leave with new perspective that your brokenness is your very joy!
Ecclesiastes 3:11 Amplified Bible
11 He has made everything beautiful and appropriate in its time. He has also planted eternity [a sense of divine purpose] in the human heart [a mysterious longing which nothing under the sun can satisfy, except God]—yet man cannot find out (comprehend, grasp) what God has done (His overall plan) from the beginning to the end.
A song that I love called: YOU MAKE BEAUTIFUL THINGS
The lyrics say this:
All this pain I wonder if I'll ever find my way I wonder if my life could really change, at all All this earth Could all that is lost ever be found? Could a garden come out from this ground, at all? You make beautiful things You make beautiful things out of the dust
Genesis 2:7 Amplified Bible 7 then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being
I think confetti represents who God is and the Gospel message -
We were made for beauty - we long for beauty - another word for profound beauty is the glory of God!
Romans 3:23 says that we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God
we really screwed this whole thing up and He sent His one and only son to rescue us!
Turn to your neighbor and say - “sinner? Me too”
Sin shatters beauty - sin eradicates the glory of God!
I am not sure how you view the Bible, but I see it as a biography of really screwed up, messed up people - like when I want to use an example… it is impossible for me to pick one when there are so many….
So I figured one of the reasons you come to church is to increase your Bible knowledge so get ready for a quick course in Theology 101 - are you ready?
Here are a few Mess ups of the Bible:
The Apostle Paul - used to be called Saul…. a ruthlessly intent on stopping the growth of Christianity at any cost by putting them in prison, destroying churches and even overseeing their murders. That is until God revealed Himself to Saul on the road to Damascus and his life would forever be changed and transformed
Tamar - left her family at a young age to marry into the family of Judah. In these times, a woman’s value was determined by her offspring, but she was unable to conceive with her first husband so she married his brother - he refused to conceive with Tamar so Tamar then married a third brother and was still unable to conceive. Faced with fear of being childless and destitute, she set out for justice. Dressed as a prostitute, she coerced her father-in-law, Judah, to have sex with her and she bore twin sons. One of the sons was the ancestor of King David - a direct lineage to Christ.
Simon Peter - he denied even knowing Jesus not just one time but 3 times - let alone being a disciple who shared the last Supper with Jesus…. Jesus forgave Peter and reaffirmed his faith and Peter continued to share the Good News until his death Jonah - God told him to go to Nineveh and preach repentance and Jonah told God NO and ran away - while finding himself in the belly of a large fish, he repented and begged God to save him. The Lord listened and he went on to Nineveh to spread God’s message to the Ninevites - they repented and God Did not destroy them Adam, the first man, was a blame shifter who couldn’t resist peer pressure Eve, the first woman, couldn't control her appetite Cain, the first born human being, murdered his brother Noah, the last righteous man on earth at the time, was a drunk who slept in the nude Abraham, the forefather of faith, let other men walk off with his wife on 2 different occasions Sarah, the most gorgeous woman by popular opinion, let her husband sleep with another woman and then hated her for it. Lot, who lost his father early in life, had a serious problem with choosing the wrong company Job, supposedly a contemporary of Abraham and the epitome of faith, suffered from the nagging of a faithless wife Isaac - who was nearly killed by his father, talked to his wife into concealing their marriage Rebekah - the first “mail order bride” turned out to be a rather manipulative wife Jacob - who out wrestled God, was pretty much a pathological deceiver Rachel - who wrote the book on love at first sight, was a nomadic kleptomaniac Reuben, the pride and firstborn of Jacob, was a pervert who slept with his father’s concubine Moses, the humblest man on the face of the earth had a very serious problem with his temper Aaron - who watched Jehovah triumph over Pharaoh, formed an abominable idol during an apparent episode of attention deficit disorder or perhaps colossal amnesia Miriam - the songwriter, had sibling jealousy and a greed for power Samson, who put Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura to shame, was hopelessly enmeshed with a disloyal wife—and ended up taking his own life. (Judges 16) Eli, who ruled over Israel, was a hopelessly incapable father who lost his sons to immorality—and to an untimely death. (1 Samuel 2, 4) Saul, the first and powerful king of Israel, was apparently a psychotic with manic bursts of anger, episodes of deep depression and traces of paranoia, too. He committed suicide. (1 Samuel 16, 18, 19, 31) David, the friend of God, concealed his adultery with a murder. (2 Samuel 11) Solomon, the wisest man in the world, was arguably the world’s greatest sex addict with 1,000 sexual partners. (1 Kings 11) Hosea, an incredibly forgiving man, grappled with the pain of a wife who could be described as a nymphomaniac. The prophets, even as they spoke for God, struggled with impurity, depression, unfaithful spouses and broken families.
So, what Is your story? I think you are sitting in good company but maybe Embarrassment, shame, insecurity, sorrow have you in a prison
My life story is trauma, brokenness, abuse, hurt, deep pain... you can’t see that anymore because He has redeemed it!
We were made for beauty Sin eradicates beauty
BUT
[(Beauty + sin) + the gospel] = confetti
Psalm 103:9-18 The Message (MSG)
6-18 God makes everything come out right; he puts victims back on their feet. He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve, nor pay us back in full for our wrongs. As high as heaven is over the earth, so strong is his love to those who fear him. And as far as sunrise is from sunset, he has separated us from our sins.
He has turned all of my brokenness into an unshakable confidence that I know to whom I belong which defines who I am!
YOU ARE not a mess anymore, YOU ARE confetti!
God has a plan for you that is far greater than you can imagine
Oh you could just keep going on like you have been - feeling like a fraud, hiding
But…. You were not made to live small or depressed or oppressed or anxious - you were made to be confetti!
You are broken AND he wants to redeem your beauty
How do you find the confetti popper that is living on the very inside of you?
You need to know who you are!
Who is creating your Identity? Other people? Yourself? Your circumstances? Your feelings? OR THE WORD OF GOD?
Is the confetti popper on the inside of you OR are you chasing an external confetti popper?
You are IMAGO DEI which means that YOU are made in the image of God
YOU ARE
Loved - DEEPLY AND UNCONDITIONAL Known - YOUR HAIRS HAVE BEEN COUNTED Chosen - YOU ARE HERE TODAY! Seen - HE SEES YOU - HAVE YOU FELT HIM TODAY - because HE has HIS EYE on you! Accepted - NOTHING CAN SEPARATE YOU FROM THE LOVE OF GOD
The confetti popper is in your hand - you control it…. I can’t make you pull the trigger - I can’t tell you to put your pain, your mistakes, your secrets through the paper shredder and allow the love of God, the Grace of God to heal it all - I can’t do it for you! Today you are going to have to muster up your own courage to trust God, to surrender to His Will and plan!
You were made to Bear the Image of God - you are an Image Bearer!
PLEASE STAND TO YOUR FEET
As you leave here today, you are going to receive a confetti package…..
This is yours to keep - I pray that today, this week, this month…. You will begin to think about your life - you will hear the words of your savior speak to you and say -
Jeremiah 1:5 5 I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born.
Psalm 139:16 Christian Standard Bible 16 Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began.
Jeremiah 29:11 New International Version 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Let me tell you about my confetti package and what I do with it….
I pour it over my head and let it drip all the way to my toes - because I am not supposed to standing here today - the enemy put a bullseye on my life as a child and did everything he could to take me out - I should be shredded discarded pieces of papers that amount to nothing but trash…..
But there is a song that I love to sing that causes my internal confetti popper to go off that says….
I've got a river of life flowing out of me! Makes the lame to walk, and the blind to see. Opens prison doors, sets the captives free! I've got a river of life flowing out of me!
Or Isaiah 61 says it like this: (This will be my ending prayer - I will pray Scripture over them)
61 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.
That is another way of saying confetti!
4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.

WHAT’S MY PART IN EASTER?
Matthew 21:1–11 (NIV): 21 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.” 4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: 5 “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ”
6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!” 10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?” 11 The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
Zechariah 9:9 (NIV): 9 Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

FOLLOWING THE ROAD OF JESUS TO THE CROSS
John 11:54 (NIV): 54 Therefore Jesus no longer moved about publicly among the people of Judea. Instead he withdrew to a region near the wilderness, to a village called Ephraim, where he stayed with his disciples
TO WORK THROUGH GRIEF Matthew 14:13 When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns.
TO PREPARE FOR A MAJOR TASK Luke 4:1-2 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit Into the wilderness, 2 where for forty days he was tempted[a] by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.
RECHARGE AFTER HARD WORK MARK 6:30 The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. 31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” 32 So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.
BEFORE MAKING AN IMPORTANT DECISION Luke 6:12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. 13 When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles:
IN A TIME OF DISTRESS LUKE 22:39 Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. 40 On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” 41 He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” 43 An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. 44 And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. John 11:54 (NIV): 54 Therefore Jesus no longer moved about publicly among the people of Judea. Lessons from the Wilderness
Exodus 24:1–7 (ESV) Then he said to Moses, “Come up to the Lord, you and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from afar. 2 Moses alone shall come near to the Lord, but the others shall not come near, and the people shall not come up with him.” 3 Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the rules. And all the people answered with one voice and said, “All the words that the Lord has spoken we will do.” 4 And Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord. He rose early in the morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. 5 And he sent young men of the people of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the Lord. 6 And Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he threw against the altar. 7 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.”
1 Corinthians 11:23–28 (NIV): 23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. 27 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.
28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup
CHANGE: make (someone or something) different; alter or modify.

Lessons from the Wilderness
Exodus 15:1 Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord, saying, “I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider1 he has thrown into the sea.
Philippians 2:14-16 14 Do everything without murmuring or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.
Exodus 24:1 (ESV) Then he said to Moses, “Come up to the Lord, you and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from afar.

EXODUS 32:1 When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.” 2 Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.”

Daniel Fast 2022: Monday, January 10th - Sunday, January 30th https://www.fusionchurch.cc/danielfast/ SOAP DAILY WITH US www.FusionChurch.cc/SOAP
1) FAITH HAS TO BE TESTED!
Genesis 22:1–3 (NIV):
22 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. 2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” 3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey.
James 1:2 Count it all JOY when you come into various tests and trials!
James 1:22–24 (NIV): 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
1 Peter 1:7 so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
IN FACT SOMETIMES GOD EVEN GIVES BLESSINGS AS A TEST TO SEE WHAT WE DO WITH IT.
Exodus 16:4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction.
APPLICATION: WHAT IN YOUR LIFE RIGHT NOW IS A FAITH TEST?
2) FAITH GROWS BECAUSE YOU EXERCISE IT
James 2:17 (NIV): In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
James 2:20 (NIV): 20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless
James 2:26 (NIV): As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
Galatians 5:6 (NIV): For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
James 2:18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.

HOW DO I FIND TRUE REST?
Hebrews 4:9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

R. RETURN E. ETERNAL S. SABBATH T. TRUST
1) RETURN
Zechariah 1:3 (NIV): 3 Therefore tell the people: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Return to me,’ declares the Lord Almighty, ‘and I will return to you,’ says the Lord Almighty.
RETURN = motion back in direction of point of departure
QUESTION: TO FIND TRUE REST, IN WHAT AREAS DO YOU NEED TO RETURN TO GOD?
2) ETERNAL
John 10:28–30 (NIV) 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”
2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV): 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
QUESTION: ARE YOUR EYES FIXED ON THE ETERNAL OR THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD?
3) SABBATH
Exodus 31:15–17 (NIV) 15 For six days work is to be done, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day is to be put to death. 16 The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant. 17 It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.’
Mark 2:27 (NIV) 27 Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

I need to feel the comfort of resting in Your love, the contentment of trusting in Your goodness, and the joy of experiencing Your presence. I choose today to lay my burdens down at Your feet. I choose to stop long enough to remember You are with me on this journey. I choose to return to Your ways and return to your rest. Open my eyes to see beauty in all You have created. Open my heart to see You in every gift I enjoy. Pour into the empty places in my life until in exchange the overwhelm for Your overflow. Amen.

Zechariah 11:7–11 (NIV):
7 So I shepherded the flock marked for slaughter, particularly the oppressed of the flock. Then I took two staffs and called one Favor and the other Union, and I shepherded the flock. 8 In one month I got rid of the three shepherds. The flock detested me, and I grew weary of them 9 and said, “I will not be your shepherd. Let the dying die, and the perishing perish. Let those who are left eat one another’s flesh.”
10 Then I took my staff called Favor and broke it, revoking the covenant I had made with all the nations. 11 It was revoked on that day, and so the oppressed of the flock who were watching me knew it was the word of the Lord.
Psalm 3:6–8 (NIV): 6 I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side. 7 Arise, Lord! Deliver me, my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. 8 From the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people.

John 11:33–35 (NIV): 33 When Jesus saw her (Mary) weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.
34 “Where have you laid him?” he asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they replied.
35 Jesus wept. (lamented)

John 1:1–5 (NIV): 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
2) HONEST GRIEF = LAMENT
Psalm 38:9-11, “All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you. My heart pounds, my strength fails me; even the light has gone from my eyes. My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds; my neighbors stay far away.”

Numbers 9:15-23 15 On the day the tabernacle, the tent of the covenant law, was set up,the cloud covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire. 16 That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire. 17 Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped. 18 At the Lord’s command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained in camp. 19 When the cloud remained over the tabernacle a long time, the Israelites obeyed the Lord’s order and did not set out. 20 Sometimes the cloud was over the tabernacle only a few days; at the Lord’s command they would encamp, and then at his command they would set out. 21 Sometimes the cloud stayed only from evening till morning, and when it lifted in the morning, they set out. Whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud lifted, they set out. 22 Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out. 23 At the Lord’s command they encamped, and at the Lord’s command they set out. MOVING OR CHANGE IS NOT SELF-INITIATED Numbers 12:1 Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite. 2 “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” And the Lord heard this ROUTINE IS DISRUPTED
Isaiah 55:8-9 8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”declares the Lord. 9. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
CREATES A FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN Numbers 9: 22 Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out.
THE PURPOSE OF THE MOVE IS UNCLEAR IN OUR EYES
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Isaiah 55:8-9 8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”declares the Lord. 9. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
FEAR OF FAILURE MIGHT ARISE Elbert Hubbard said the greatest mistake a person can make is to be afraid of making one.
THERE IS A LACK OF RESPECT FOR THE LEADER
Numbers 11:4 Then the foreign rabble who were traveling with the Israelites began to crave the good things of Egypt. And the people of Israel also began to complain. “Oh, for some meat!” they exclaimed.
MOVING MIGHT MEAN PERSONAL LOSS
MOVING REQUIRES ADDITIONAL COMMITMENT
Numbers 9:21 Sometimes the cloud stayed only from evening till morning, and when it lifted in the morning, they set out. Whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud lifted, they set out.

The Hebrew word for first fruit is bikkurim—literally translated to “promise to come.” The Israelites saw these first fruits as an investment into their future. God told them that if they brought their first fruits to him, he would bless all that came afterward.

1) JESUS WENT ALL IN
MATTHEW 4:18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him. 21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him. LUKE 4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. 2 For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry.
LUKE 4:14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a report about him went out through all the surrounding country.
LUKE 4:19 Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”

MATTHEW 16:24 24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
25 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure. I am finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, chintzy giving, and dwarfed goals.
I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I now live by presence, lean by faith, love by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by power.
My pace is set, my gait is fast, my goal is Heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions few, my Guide reliable, my mission clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, deterred, lured away, turned back, diluted, or delayed.
I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I must go until Heaven returns, give until I drop, preach until all know, and work until He comes. And when He comes to get His own, He will have no problem recognizing me. My colors will be clear.
I am part of the "Fellowship of the Unashamed."
APPLICATION WHAT IS THE HOLY SPIRIT SAYING TO YOU? WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO TO GET YOUR LIFE BACK THIS WEEK? WHY?
GOD’S GOT THIS
INTRO:
GOD’S GOT THIS - SALVATION
[Rom 10:9-13 NLT] 9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced." 12 Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. 13 For "Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved."
THE GREATEST AREA OF TRUST IS SALVATION!
GOD’S GOT THIS - OBEDIENCE
SALVATION & OBEDIENCE ARE INEXTRICABLY JOINED TOGETHER.
[Mat 7:21-27 NLT] 21 "Not everyone who calls out to me, 'Lord! Lord!' will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. 22 On judgment day many will say to me, 'Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.' 23 But I will reply, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God's laws.' 24 "Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won't collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn't obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash."
DISOBEDIENCE IS NOT AN OBEDIENCE ISSUE IT IS A TRUST ISSUE!
GOD’S GOT THIS - PERSONAL CHALLENGES
[Mat 7:24-27 NLT] 24 "Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.
GOD’S GOT THIS - FAMILY CHALLENGES
GOD’S GOT THIS - TODAY CHALLENGES
[Mat 6:25-30 NLT] 25 "That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life--whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn't life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. THE BIBLE
When we say the Bible is infallible, we mean that God’s Word is incapable of error. Because God is perfect, so is His revelation of himself. God’s Word will accomplish exactly what God wants it to, “My word that comes from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please and will prosper in what I send it to do” (Isa. 55:11).

PRAYER & FASTING James 5:14-16 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Romans 12:1-2 12 1-2 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
2 CORINTHIANS 10:5 We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.
If God didn’t say it, I don’t have to claim it.
Exodus 4:10-12 Moses raised another objection to God: “Master, please, I don’t talk well. I’ve never been good with words, neither before nor after you spoke to me. I stutter and stammer.” 11-12 God said, “And who do you think made the human mouth? And who makes some mute, some deaf, some sighted, some blind? Isn’t it I, God? So, get going. I’ll be right there with you—with your mouth! I’ll be right there to teach you what to say.”
Judges 6:11-12;14 11-12 One day the angel of God came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, whose son Gideon was threshing wheat in the winepress, out of sight of the Midianites. The angel of God appeared to him and said, “God is with you, O mighty warrior!” 14 But God faced him directly: “Go in this strength that is yours. Save Israel from Midian. Haven’t I just sent you?”
Genesis 41:39-40 39-40 So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “You’re the man for us. God has given you the inside story—no one is as qualified as you in experience and wisdom. From now on, you’re in charge of my affairs; all my people will report to you. Only as king will I be over you.”
My situation doesn't define my significance. My doubt doesn't define my destiny. My perspective doesn’t define my purpose. My failures don’t define my future. My insecurity doesn’t define my identity.
TAKEAWAYS: Recognize Respond Remind
3 THINGS TO KEEP YOUR ROAD TRIP ON COURSE
DON’T COMPARE YOUR ROAD TRIP TO SOMEONE ELSE’S
JACOB + ESAU
“Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you shall be divided; the one shall be stronger than the other, the older shall serve the younger.” Genesis 25:23
“Once when Jacob was cooking stew, Esau came in from the field, and he was exhausted. 30 And Esau said to Jacob, “Let me eat some of that red stew, for I am exhausted!” (Therefore his name was called Edom.[e]) 31 Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright now.” 32 Esau said, “I am about to die; of what use is a birthright to me?” 33 Jacob said, “Swear to me now.” So he swore to him and sold his birthright to Jacob. 34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew, and he ate and drank and rose and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.” Genesis 25:29-34
“Keep a sharp eye out for weeds of bitter discontent. A thistle or two gone to seed can ruin a whole garden in no time. Watch out for the Esau syndrome: trading away God’s lifelong gift in order to satisfy a short-term appetite. You well know how Esau later regretted that impulsive act and wanted God’s blessing—but by then it was too late, tears or no tears.” Hebrews 12:16-17
“I just overheard your father talking with your brother, Esau. He said, ‘Bring me some game and fix me a hearty meal so that I can eat and bless you with God’s blessing before I die.’ Now, my son, listen to me. Do what I tell you. Go to the flock and get me two young goats. Pick the best; I’ll prepare them into a hearty meal, the kind that your father loves. Then you’ll take it to your father, he’ll eat and bless you before he dies. Genesis 27:7-10
“But Mother,” Jacob said, “my brother Esau is a hairy man and I have smooth skin. What happens if my father touches me? He’ll think I’m playing games with him. I’ll bring down a curse on myself instead of a blessing.” 13 “If it comes to that,” said his mother, “I’ll take the curse on myself. Now, just do what I say. Go and get the goats.” Genesis 27:11-13
HOW FAR ARE YOU WILLING TO GO TO GET WHAT YOU WANT OR TO GET THE BLESSING SOMEONE ELSE HAS
TRUST THE ROAD TRIP PLAN THAT THE LORD HAS UNIQUELY MADE FOR YOUR LIFE
DON’T MAKE YOUR ROAD TRIP AN IDOL
LEAH + RACHEL
When the Lord saw that Leah was not loved, he enabled her to conceive, but Rachel remained childless. 32 Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Reuben,[b] for she said, “It is because the Lord has seen my misery. Surely my husband will love me now.” Genesis 29:31-32
EACH WOMAN BEGAN TO MAKE AN IDOL OUT OF WHAT THEY LACKED
THEIR LACK TURNED TO BITTERNESS
DON’T USE THE WRONG NAVIGATION SYSTEM
CHOOSE THE RIGHT NAVIGATION SYSTEM MEANS INVITING IN PEOPLE WHO ARE WISER, WHO HAVE BEEN DOWN THE ROAD AND SUCCESSFULLY GONE BEFORE YOU
CHOOSING THE RIGHT NAVIGATION SYSTEM MEANS BEING INTENTIONAL + TRANSPARENT WITH THE LORD
JONAH
(KEYS)
PRODIGAL SON + OLDER BROTHER
“For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.” Luke 15:24
Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27 ‘Your brother has come,’ he replied, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.’
28 “The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. 29 But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’ Luke 15:25-30
THE SAME GRACE THAT KEPT THE OLDER SON OUT OF TROUBLE IS THE SAME GRACE THAT BROUGHT THE OTHER ONE HOME
THE OLDER SON WAS JUST AS LOST AND ESTRANGED AS THE YOUNGER SON, EVEN THOUGH HE WAS LIVING IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO HIS FATHER.
YOUR NAVIGATION IS OFF WHEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE IS OFF
Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.
The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They’re full of formulas and programs and advice, pedaling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don’t fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Matthew 6:6-13
BEING IN HIS PRESENCE REALIGNS OUR PERSPECTIVE AND FORTIFIES OUR NAVIGATION SYSTEM
APPLICATION
What is the Holy Spirit saying to me? What areas of my road trip am I comparing with someone else's? Am I making the “destination” an idol? Am I using the wrong navigation system?
Proverbs 16:9 The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.
1) NAVIGATION SYSTEM WITH THE CORRECT DESTINATION
The GREATEST Navigation System is still the BIBLE
2 TIMOTHY 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
1 Corinthians 16:1 NLT “Now regarding your question about the money being collected for God’s people in Jerusalem. You should follow the same procedure I gave to the churches in Galatia.”
APPLICATION: CHOOSE TO TRUST THE BIBLE TODAY! 2) THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE PLUGGED IN (HOLY SPIRIT) JOHN 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever.
WHY: Detours Dead ends Discouragement (traffic)
1 Samuel 30:6 6 David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.
8 and David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?” “Pursue them,” he answered. “You will certainly overtake them and succeed in the rescue.”
Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans (directions) in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails
