I know firsthand how devastating a diagnosis of cancer or other life-threatening diseases can be not only on myself but on those I love. About 2 years ago I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma which is a non-curable form of bone cancer. I underwent an extensive regimen of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, many surgeries, bone-strengthening medication, and targeted antibody infusions. I entered a time of remission, however; I knew the tables could turn against me and I would be back on medications again fighting to knock down this invisible demon. Sure enough, I’m presently facing a relapse of my disease and will start once again on different meds to once again enter that magical time of remission. I learned many things along my journey these past couple of years. The most important was the realization that no matter what happens to us, we must use our miracle status of the gift of life to change the world for the better. We can use whatever life we have to help others through their moment of trial and give them the knowledge of how life challenges can not only change us for the better but can allow them to see their world differently. Creating The Compassionate Voices Podcast is to help those who have through no fault of their own have begun a journey into an unknown yet actual process within their bodies. We live during a time when rapid change and growth are occurring. It is a time when I see hope on the horizon where treatments and cures can and are in abundance. We need to see such a change in positive tones not coated by fear. I hope that those with the same vision will gather to change our world vision and help each other explore, understand, and envision a world based on principles and ideals we will discover together.
