In Australia, organisations are familiar with performance reviews for staff, so why not for board members too? Board performance reviews ensure that everyone on the board is doing the best they can, and that everyone is happy with how they’re performing. They also show each person where they could improve. This is a key governance task usually undertaken by the Company Secretary.

Should you conduct an annual board review, or do it more frequently? Should it be formal or informal? What are you hoping to gain? What will you do with the results? I’ll answer all these questions and more.
