If only as a first time mother I had spoken up earlier about the unbelievable pain that I was experiencing in both my nipples and breasts whilst breastfeeding. I had never heard of nipple thrush until I was lying on a hospital bed with an extreme case of mastitis with a dash of nipple thrush on the side! Turns out that breastfeeding shouldn't bring you to tears for the first 3 months - it should only hurt a little the first couple of weeks if it all!
