Reaching Out: Recent Episodes

Jason Schroder

Quite simply, "Reaching Out" is a podcast where I reach out in order to find myself, and in the process hopefully help others.

There is no specific topic or genre I am chasing, but will rather vary between a multitude of topics and genres such as health, nutrition, religion, life, business, amongst others.

I hope you enjoy this podcast and learn something from this/my journey.

A new year. A new series. A new me. (just kidding...) But it is a new series, that is for sure.

I spent a lot of time planning this series because I really want this to be an effective series that really helps people in whatever way. I will be having various guests, topics, and discussions throughout this series. The only constant in this series will be that I am the host. Other than that, it is going to be an extremely varied series.

"What is the new series?" you may ask. The new series is titled "Brick-By-Brick". For further information, I suggest that you listen to the episodes.

Thank you for joining Reaching Out Podcast! The last episode to be released was “The Black SheepS”— head to https://anchor.fm/reaching-out-podcast to listen to that episode if you haven’t already.  Today’s episode is the fourteenth in this series. Yes, it is a bit rusty. Yes, it may not be perfect, but I am back. Referring to “You” and “I” is most likely with regards to myself. If you feel convicted then that is great! But I am just doing a review of what “I” have experienced. I decided to do this episode to get back into the swing of things before I launch my next series, “Brick-by-brick”. I hope you enjoy and that you take something positive from this episode.

There's certain things that only come with experience.

"An Auntle".

Focus on what you have in your hands now...

A lot of this episode revolves around/ties into perspective.

Matthew 6:34

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I believe that some people go through life not even living.

Apologies for the background noise. I recorded this episode on my phone while cleaning my apartment. I was not going to re-record the episode as I feel it would lose its weight.

*This is episode 41, not 40, as I did not plan to record the episode titled, "Three hundred and sixty-five".

On the 3rd of June 2021, the first episode of Reaching Out was released. A year later, and the 40th episode is released.

What a journey it has been. So much has happened in the space of 365 days, 8760 hours, 525600 minutes, 31536000 seconds, and I am in awe.

So many great memories and lessons learnt. So much growth and change has taken place.

It is only going to get better from here.

The one thing which I have been reflecting on the past few days whilst reflecting on the past year is that something that you may be worrying about or going through currently, how relevant or large will it be in a years time. Just a thought to ponder on.

Thank you for joining Reaching Out Podcast! Last week, I spoke about Overnight success—head to https://anchor.fm/reaching-out-podcast to listen to that episode if you haven’t already.

Today, we are speaking about my new series, “Process-driven”.

Please welcome the podcast regular Izanne!

  1. What is the difference between being process vs. result-driven?
  2. What does it mean to be result-driven?
  3. What does it mean to be process-driven?

These are just a few of the discussion points for today's episode.

  • “Your so-called results are a delayed measure of your process”-Jason Schroder
  • “Breakthroughs are not a result of chance. They are a result of action.”-Craig Groeschell

EVERYTHING you do is preparation for your opportunities.

Are you preparing to fail or succeed?

  1. Activity creates opportunity.

  2. Your attitude attracts opportunities or obstacles.

  3. Hardwork brings opportunities in its wake.

  4. God's timing is perfect.

God is not going to present you with things that you are not capable of handling.

Sometimes it feels like nothing is changing. I get it, trust me...

You don't necessarily see the skyscraper when you laying the foundations, especially when those foundations are required to be deeper than usual.

It may not be the nicest feeling or process, but a strong foundation is required.

Success is a process. Failure is stopping that process.

Even though the start may seem tough, if you don't start, you won't succeed.

"The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination."-Carl Rogers.

"People become successful in the process, not the destination."-Jason Schroder

Character is your foundation.

-Reflected in how you treat others, and how others treat you.

Stop being a pendulum. Honestly be you, and stay true to who you are.

What is your purpose? Are you living for you? Are you living for others?

Do you know who you are? You can't be a tree that is getting swayed in the wind, yet expect the small branches to stand firm.

Success is built one step at a time.

Are you living a life built on a foundation of lies?

Have we been classically conditioned to limit what we think our potential is? Are we allowing this to take place?

Be aware of your environment. It can change you for the good or for the bad. Your environment is usually the catalyst to you, but why don't you be the catalyst in your environment?

Ask the right questions.

Character is the foundation for a life of great success.

Know when to quit. Dude read between the lines. I am not saying you must quit just because it gets hard. Obstacles are meant to be a catalyst for growth, not a hindrance thereof.

"Knowing when to walk away is wisdom. Being able to is courage. Walking away with your head held high is dignity."

Where are you going to be in 2052?

There is a difference between quitting because it is hard, and tough in the moment vs. quitting something because you know it isn't the right thing for you. Are you quitting because you lost the heart/desire for hard work and sacrifice, or because you are chasing the wrong thing?

Once something becomes stagnant, that is a big sign that it is time. "Idleness is emptiness; the tree in which the sap is stagnant, remains fruitless"-Hosea Ballou

"Eyy my guy a whole nother level".

Hey everyone, and yeah I know I have been quiet, but I have been focusing completely on my career and relationship with God. I recorded this episode, and the following episode a while ago but i just never got around to releasing the episodes. However, they are still completely relevant, and still completely hype:)

"Its unrealistic" says the ones who haven't made it. Unbelievable is such a weak statement today. Everything is unbelievable until it is done.

Apologies for the tapping in the background. I was getting really hyped up... Hence, I was playing with a pen or something.

We are gonna destroy 2022! "New year my guy". Chase the next level!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas, and that you are having a fantastic holiday.

In this episode I discuss three key points around limiting your distractions:

1.) What are your distractions?

2.) How to limit your distractions?

3.) The end result.

Be aware when distractions come your way. You'll know it's a distraction when you stop doing what you're supposed to be doing and find yourself pondering things that have no value.

Time And intentionality

Here’s a thought to ponder on:

How to be intentional with your time? Even if that time you use doesn’t lead to success, but to a “failure”, how do you be intentional with that?

“It is not enough to be busy… The question is: What are we busy about?”

-Henry David Thoreau

“Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never  get it back”

-Harvey Mackay

My question for you today is: You have 86000 seconds in a day, how do you use it?

Limitless series: Do you know you?

The road less travelled.

There's a Robert Frost poem by the name of "The road not taken". Below is an excerpt of it:

"Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference."

To be honest, people throw this statement around, but do you/they really know what “The road less travelled” entails? Do you understand there’s going to be pain, sacrifice, and hard work? Do you know that it can be lonely? Do you know that it sometimes is scary? However, the rewards completely outweigh all of that. Take the lesser travelled path, be a pioneer, don’t be a sheep (sheep sound).

My special guest for today is Phillip Seidler. An Olympic swimmer, and in my eyes, a great example to people on how to make sacrifices, work hard, and chase your dreams.

Hey guys! So this is most likely the last episode in the "Influence or be influenced" series.

This episode is streamlined, and exceptional to be honest.

Don't be a sheep.

It takes nothing to join the crowd. It takes everything to stand alone.

It’s all good and well you have your future in mind, but how far does that really take you?

For me personally, I just had an idea of going into business and that’s where it stopped. That was until I handed it over to God.

I have a special guest with me today, being Marcus Claassens. So give it up for the absolute amazing human that is Marcus!

Aaah history, my favourite subject in school… Fortunately, the school subject is not the topic being discussed in this episode!

Your past, your mistakes, your bad memories, your fears, your failures… Stuff that!

Use your past as an asset to propel yourself to new heights.

Own your history, or it will own you. You decide!

Supply and demand; Equilibrium; Selling price… No, this episode isn’t about sales, or marketing , or anything like that. Do I seem like a shallow person? No, I thought not… This episode goes a lot deeper than that… More along the lines of placing a demand on yourself to achieving your goals, and providing the supply of effort, dedication, and drive to achieve those goals. More along the lines of, “there’s a lack in the supply of real people”. More along the lines of, oh wait…. You’re going to actually have to listen to the episode to know…

Opportunity or obstacle? It is all about perspective. How are you positioning yourself towards a situation? What is your mindset?

There's a first for everything, and this is my first episode with a guest!

Episode 10! And honestly, I’m so happy, blessed, and honoured that firstly, I have this platform to help people, and secondly, that this podcast is having such a phenomenal impact on everyone! Here’s to many more life-changing episodes, and phenomenal guests on the podcast!

Are you a wallowing whale that gossips, or a purpose driven person who talks with purpose and integrity?

So many people spend their time talking about others, while not focusing on themselves. And honestly, no wonder the world is in the state that it is.

“Pay attention to how people talk about other people to you in private. Because that's exactly how they talk about you to others.”

What kind of people should you allow yourself to be influenced by?

This is a really tough question to actually answer because it is so in depth. Most people just look on the surface and say oh yes these are my friends, these are the people in my life. Yet when you undertake an investigation into the people in your life that influence you, you might be extremely surprised. By undertaking this investigation, identifying, and removing the bad influencers you may just start seeing the breakthroughs you’ve been seeking for a while.

Matthew 15:14

“When one blind man leads another they’ll both fall down into the ditch.”

Special thanks goes to:

My dad, Glenn Schroder who gave such amazing input for this episode.

One of my most valuable, and weirdly, closest friends, Paul for posing this question, and for fighting so hard for me.

I really value you both to such an astronomical extent that you wont even understand.

Welcome to the third episode in the series! Cutting the "energy vampires" in your life is extremely important as you will/I hope you will come to  this understanding by the end of this episode.

“If you've ever met an energy vampire (and you probably have), you'll get thedistinct feeling that this person has an intense need to prey off the vitality of others. There is a kind of acute neediness present in energy vampires which can be quite overwhelming and depleting to those they come in contact with."
