Mary L. Hamilton began writing for publication when her children were young. She sold articles to Christian magazines and later wrote a play for her church’s women’s ministry outreach. That play sparked her passion for fiction even as it humbled her to see it performed. She says, “I gave them words in black and white and they put skin and clothes on those words. They brought black and white to life in Technicolor.”By that time, her three children had quit taking naps and she couldn’t find a regular time to write when she wasn’t falling asleep. She gave up writing until her youngest was in school and then concentrated on writing fiction.Her first novels drew from her experience growing up at a Christian youth camp. The Rustic Knoll Bible Camp series for young teens tells the stories of three hurting teens who bring their “baggage” to camp and find that Jesus can lift their burdens.Since then Mary has written novels of mystery and suspense and plans to write more general stories for women.She has lived in Texas most of her adult life, and when she’s not writing, she enjoys knitting, playing with her dog, and a little phone photography. Collecting for the Flea Market Love Letters archive project began in 2015. The present mission of the project is to archive and preserve found, vintage ephemera (letters, postcards, photos etc.) often sourced at flea markets. There are now nearly 300 letters in the archive, and that number is increasing.

I’m blest to have the best job in the world – that of an author. I’ve penned several WWII novels, several prairie romance novellas, an Amish novel, and I’m working on my first romantic suspense. I’m a popular speaker on such wide-ranging topics as writing, courage, faith, preserving our family histories, adoption, and marriage. In addition, I work as a freelance editor.
I’m married to my high school sweetheart, and we’ve settled next to a farm field in Wisconsin. The Lord blessed us with three children through international adoption. Our son, born in Vietnam, is grown and serves as a U.S. Marine. Our oldest daughter, born in Korea, is a college student majoring in international studies. Our youngest daughter, born in the Philippines, has multiple disabilities and is a source of much laughter and joy in our home.
When I’m not in front of my computer, I enjoy walking my hyperactive Jack Russell terrier mix, reading, cooking, working in my large perennial garden, kayaking, camping, and traveling with my family.
I am also a breast cancer survivor. It has been a journey of deep faith and trust in the Lord, but he has sustained me and granted me healing.
The greatest love in my life is my Lord Jesus. I pray that my writing, as well as my entire life, will be to his honor and glory alone.

I love filet mignon. Seriously! My favorite type of meat. Maybe one of the reasons I like it so much is that I don't have it very often. If filet mignon were the only option of meat for me, though, I would likely get sick of it before too long. And someone who doesn't eat meat at all would never want to eat at my house at all.
An option, any option no matter how good it is, only works for part of the population and only at certain times. (I'd hate to have filet mignon for breakfast! Or dessert!) So, in the publishing industry, there are more options. Through this program, you can better learn which one will work for you, depending on your goals and your type of project.

I got into non-medical writing after the death of my first wife with my book, THE TENDER SCAR: LIFE AFTER THE DEATH OF A SPOUSE. I'm gratified that it continues to help those who have lost a loved one.
Now I'm writing what I call "medical suspense with heart." My novels have been finalists for the ACFW Carol Award, Romantic Times' Best Inspirational Novel and their Reviewer's Choice Award, have won the Selah award, and been named by Christian Retailing as the best in the mystery/suspense/thriller category. My latest novel is CARDIAC EVENT, which has been given a 4 1/2 star rating and a "Top Pick" by Romantic Times. I've also published three novellas, the latest one DOCTOR'S DILEMMA.
The story is the thing! Right? Well, yes ... and no. A great joke isn't so great if the telling is spoiled or the timing of the punchline is off. The same is true of a great story. The premise can be golden, but if the writing utilizes old-fashioned practices, cliche' phrases or situations, or has poor grammar, an agent or editor will not likely choose to pursue the book and a reader will not likely continue past the first page.
Writing is a changing occupation. What worked for the classics and the "modern" novels of the 70s and 80s simply doesn't work for today's genre novels. Tune in to learn keys to bringing your golden premise into the 21st-century publishing environment and learn what types of writing are plain indicators that a story, or the author, just isn't ready for a contract.
Better yet, learn how to avoid those pitfalls so that your story rises to the top of the slushy waters of the pile!

Trey Ganem has been designing unique, custom caskets for almost a quarter of a century in Edna, Texas. He's designed thousands of caskets since then, for adults and children, for sports stars, celebrities, and recently for victims of the tragedy in Sutherland Springs. Moments before the destruction of her home planet, Carla's parents jettisoned her and her twin brother to earth. He was taken in by a kindly farmer in Kansas while she was embraced by a rather liberal clowder of feral cats in Houston, Texas.
While still a toddler, she bid farewell to her feline family and headed to Pace, Florida, a small hamlet just outside Pensacola. There she raised herself in a hollowed out tree trunk and taught herself to speak fluent Southern, ride out a hurricane like a pro and tell the difference between Coke and Pepsi by fizz alone.
As an adult, she fulfilled the dream of all feral cats and became a Spanish teacher and track coach. After nearly a decade in the classroom, she met a military cyborg who promptly married her and whisked her away to such exotic locations as Virginia and New Mexico. Now, a mother of twins herself, she and her husband have returned to the People's Holy Republic of Texas and reside not far from where her pod originally landed.
Unlike her twin, Clark, Carla found her powers late in life. She was first introduced to them through a Hapkido based self defense class. From there she went on to train in MMA, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, street defense and is currently a student of Brazilian Jiujitsu and Sayoc. She has also assisted her coach Eddie Avelar (not altogether human himself) in the teaching of self defense. With him she continues the study of *street defense - or whatever he happens to throw at her. Literally. Sometimes he literally throws things at her.

Rachael O. Phillips, a church music director, began her unplanned writing career during midlife when the church secretary demanded newsletter articles at gunpoint. At Bethel College, Mishawaka, Indiana, she obtained degrees in Professional Writing and English. There, she made connections that resulted in her first biography, Frederick Douglass, followed by three others. A 2007 American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) Genesis winner and 2012 finalist for an ACFW Carol Award, Rachael has written six novels and recently signed contracts for four cozy mysteries. She also has coauthored a reference guide, Women of the Bible,and three novella collections. An Erma Bombeck Global Award winner, she enjoys writing humor and has published more than 700 articles, newspaper columns, devotions, and stories for newspapers, magazines and various collections. She enjoys speaking to diverse audiences, sharing laughs and inspiration. She and Steve, her high school sweetheart and husband of 40 years, live in Indiana, where he serves as a family doctor and also as an adjunct professor at Taylor University. Their three grown children and six perfect grandchildren all live in Indiana and Michigan.
