From Nashville to Elmopalooza, my guest on today’s show followed his passion through some interesting and incredible twists and turns.

Two-time Grammy Award-winning songwriter/producer/writer/performer Dennis Scott has left no corner of the children’s music industry unexplored. His songs have been performed by such diverse artists as Ben Vereen, Faith Hill, Ray Charles, CeCe Winans, Donna Summer, and Charlie Daniels Band, to name a few. In this episode, Dennis talks about performing in a Broadway show at age 7, where his love of music began. His first foray into the music world was writing a novelty song called Captain Kirk’s Disco Trek (I really need to get my hands on a copy of this, by the way!). From there the twists and turns began, and it’s so great hearing how he was able to lean into his passion, faking it until he made it in a few jobs, and finding out he was able to make a really great living doing something he loves. If you live the creative life, or you’re tempted to follow your passion to see where it might lead, this is an inspirational and delightful talk.
