The Lasting Message David Foster The Lasting Message – definition Whether in a book, movie, speech, or almost any art form, it is the idea or thought that you are left with at the conclusion. When Will Christ Return? 3 As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
4 And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray.
5 For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray.
6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
8 All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.
Matthew 24:3-8 ESV

What is the Lasting Message? In Matthew chapters 24 & 25, Jesus tells the disciples about the end times & the destruction of the temple In chapters 26 & 27, Jesus is betrayed by Judas, denied by Peter, put to death, buried, and guards have secured the tomb At this point, the Lasting Message that Jesus has left us with is of doom and gloom, and death But that is not the end of the story, there is a twist… The Twist 1 Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.
2 And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.
3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow.
4 And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men.
5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.
6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.
7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.”
8 So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.
9 And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.
10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”
Matthew 28:1-10 ESV

What is the Lasting Message? 16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.
17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them inthe name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:16-20 ESV

7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
9 And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
10 And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes,
11 and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
Acts 1:7-11 ESV

Now What? Don’t just stand there, go spread the good news! We are given power and called to be Missionaries Jesus restores Peter and tells him to feed and tend his sheep – an example for those who feel inadequate Matthew 24:14 says the gospel will be proclaimed throughout the whole world, and then the end will come The Future Revealed 9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,
10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
Revelation 7:9-10 ESV

Ministry of the Month – February 2022

David & Andrea Foster ABWE; Richland WA & Training for Ministry in Thailand David and Andrea Foster are full-time missionaries, raising support to work in the Isan region of Thailand with ABWE (Association of Baptists for World Evangelism). Their ministry includes evangelism & discipleship, youth outreach, men’s & women’s fellowship groups, leadership development, and church planting. David preached the gospel in 21 different churches in 2021. They are currently mentoring men & women in the US and Cambodia. David is from Richland, Washington, and Andrea is from St. Louis Park, Minnesota. They have two children, Karen (17), and Sarah (4).

David was saved during a Vacation Bible School program here at FBC. Andrea was saved during a Good News Club program. Karen was saved after an AWANA event. In December, Sarah accepted Jesus as her Savior.

It is said that in Thailand, 95% of the people will never meet a Christian. The focus of the Fosters’ ministry and message is to help people meet, know, and follow Jesus, to encourage and develop a healthy relationship with Him, and to leave behind the ‘backpack’ mentality of taking God with them on their journey and instead focusing on the ‘new life journey’ of following and even pursuing Christ. God has already opened many doors for them to share the Gospel to people from all walks of life, and to many different cultures and nationalities. Until they move to Thailand, they will continue to do ministry where God has placed them.

Join a Missions Team Breakout Session on Sunday, February 27 at 11:00 AM to hear more about their ministry.

Prayer Requests:

  • Praise for Sarah asking Jesus into her heart
  • Praise for a very successful year of ministry and training in 2021
  • Prayer for David, Andera, and their daughters to have a healthy relationship with God and each other
  • Prayer for their monthly support level to reach 100% so they can then move to Thailand
  • Prayer for ministry opportunities while they are here, that they continue to see open doors to share the Gospel
  • Prayer for the Isan people of Northeastern Thailand to hear the Gospel
  • Prayer for Andre in Cambodia, as they mentor him and others in his church, and as he pursues planting more churches in Cambodia

To make a one-time gift to their ministry, you may choose “Ministry of the Month” in the drop-down menu of the ChurchCenter app’s giving option or click here to give on our website.
