Medieval doctors use to dress up as huge birds with long  beak's  believing that the soul was delivered and despatched by the avian transmigration i.e Stalk''s,  babies, Raven's = devils,  Cookoo's madness etc. Loosing a family member to cancer that small egg shaped lump seems to hatch into something of vulturous bird flesh eating bird .
