About four miles east of Crosbyton is a safety rest area that is more like a state park than anything else. Nestled among sandstone boulders and tall cottonwood trees, Silver Falls Park has long been a popular swimming hole and gathering spot where generations of Texas have learned to swim, stolen their first kisses, and celebrated family reunions. In 2004, it underwent a renovation from the Texas Department of Transportation, and it’s now the largest rest area in the state.
