BUILDING OTHERS UP

Encouragement is awesome. It (can) actually change the course of another person’s day, week, or life. - Chuck Swindoll

To build others up is to encourage them, give support, instill confidence, or even share hope. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says we are to ‘build one another up’. In fact, throughout scripture, we see the exhortation to ‘encourage one another’.

In Acts of the Apostles, we even discover a man named Barnabas – this wasn’t his given name but was the name given to him by the apostles and means ‘son of encouragement’. Can you imagine being so encouraging to others that your friends change your name?

In this next week, we explore what it actually means to encourage one another and how we can live a life that builds others up. We will also end the week with a three-day dive into 1 Thessalonians 5:11.
