We sit down with Development Director Starla McDermott to discuss her journey and how she found herself at the doors of Guiding Light. "I didn't even know how intense our programming was, but I knew they worked with homelessness and the main reason I got into non-profit is because I had once been in a place where I needed to get help and I didn't know it existed." Starla remembers a time in her past when she was homeless and it wasn't until years later when a man staying at Guiding Light asked her if she really understood what he was going through that she began to open up about it.
