The national statistics of those in the education workforce, fail to represent the ethnic diversity of the demographic in society which has had negative, and irreversible effects on the educational attainment and social experience of school, for people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.

In this conversation, Professor Uzo Iwobi, a Nigerian born nationalist, who settled in Wales in the early 1990s, shares her journey in education as a lecturer of law and life. 

Having a varied career, which has predominantly been to influence social justice, Professor Uzo, talks about the importance of being "teachable" both formally and informally.

Representation matters to the whole school culture and we must begin to value, not only the different lived experiences of others, but be willing to share our own from diverse backgrounds so that others can benefit from the rich and inspiring lessons that life brings.
