Following Christ in baptism is a matter of obedience to Him. We understand that the water does not save us, no more than our words when we confess Christ save us, but it is our outward obedience of the inward work of Christ. We believe in Christ with our heart, we confess Him with our mouth, we follow His instruction into the baptismal waters and we rise in the newness of His life.
