This video shows the evolution of turbulent coherent structures in flow past a rounded ramp with active wall actuation. The spanwise alternately suppressed and enhanced local turbulence leads to the creation of a vertical shear layer, which is the key to generate large-scale streamwise vortices and thus realize flow separation.
