"My son recently got new sneakers. One of his bully classmates stepped on the shoes and got them dirty. My son punched the bully. The school called and said my son won't face a detention if he apologizes. My son is refusing and is standing his ground. He is 9 years old. I'm proud of him for standing up for himself and taking a position. Should I make him apologize so this doesn't go on his permanent record or allow him to make his own decision in the matter? I think the school is wrong for making him apologize when he did nothing wrong. The school says the punch was unwarranted."
