"As you probably know, there was recently a tornado in Little Rock. My daughter,son, and niece were at the same school during this. The school began encouraging parents to come pick up their kids while the tornado sirens were going off. We were going to my sisters house, because the tornado looked like it was heading toward our house. On the way to her house, though, was the school. We decided we would pick up the kids. We also were going to pick up my niece because we were going to her house and her mom couldn't get off work. We picked up two of the three kids without a hitch. It was when my niece came out and told us that she walked in between two buildings unattended with a tornado on the ground a few miles away that I got really mad. She is only a 5th grader, and shouldn't be put in that kind of danger. We go to her house and have my son open the garage door from the inside. As the garage door opens up, my husband looks out his window and sees swirling at the orthodox church nearby. We rush inside, narrowly escape g the tornado. If the school hadn't encouraged us to pick up our kids, none of this would have happened. What would you so in this situation, and how could the school have handled it better?"
