She is also Adjunct Faculty at Northeastern Illinois University, where she holds a joint appointment in the Department of Literacy, Leadership, & Development and Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies. Dr. Sims is a diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) expert with over 25 years of teaching and training experience. She has developed and facilitated numerous national and international workshops and presentations regarding workplace diversity, implicit bias, unearned privilege, gender discrimination, physical appearance discrimination, and employee empowerment. She also works closely with organizations to design diversity initiatives and policies that ensure an inclusive work environment exists for their staff, leaders, students, and clients. Dr. Sims is an author of numerous publications, including books, book chapters, and articles, mostly on diversity and workforce development topics. She has traveled to Asia, Africa, South America, and the Caribbean to interview women regarding their experiences with appearance discrimination in pre-employment stages and within the workplace. After 30 years in higher education, Dr. Sims retired in July 2021 as an Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at College of DuPage. Morgan McCarver was born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Her work is inspired by her female mentors of past and present, as well as her connection to Victorian corsetry through her scoliosis journey. She received an art degree with a ceramic’ concentration and a double minor in art history and business in 2019 from Anderson University in Anderson, SC. McCarver had the honor of receiving the 2019 Outstanding Art Major Ceramics Award her senior year. As a 2020 701 Center for Contemporary Art prize finalist, she had the honor of being the youngest artist to ever make it that far. Katherine Bacock knew something was missing from her day-to-day routine of being a disabled single mom of children impacted with mental illness. She was tired, and life was hard. Katherine maintained an outwardly sunny disposition because she feared that if she let that smile crack, she would lose it. School can be challenging especially middle and high school. High school was very challenging for me, this is were I experienced real bulling. What I mean by real bulling isn't someone talking about you or calling you names. That behavior happens to everyone at some point in there lives, but being pushed into a locker and having threats told to you daily, now that's real bulling. The story I have for you today will show you how I dealt with this type of bulling.

I loved spending time with my grandma. She was one of the most kind and gentle women I every knew.
