Today I will talk about differences in how we address people outside of our close family and friends group, for example at our workplaces. In Sweden, during the late 60s, we had a movement that is called Du-reformen, you-reform, that in short completely changed our way of talking to each other. Du-reformed led to Sweden and Swedes stopping using titles and Mr. Mrs. and Ms when addressing each other. 
I have in my entire working life always been on a first-name basis with all my bosses, and my students in Sweden have always called me by my first name, so moving here it was quite a change to have students calling me Mrs. T. 
I will give some background, my personal reflection, and my personal preference, but in no way am I trying to put any value on one or the other. This is just a cultural difference between my two countries, and I think both systems have their place and their merits.
