Sexual abuse knows no boundaries, it occurs in every country, across all parts of society and age groups. Child sexual abuse or molestation is a form of child abuse in which an adult or older adolescent uses a child for sexual stimulation. Sexual abuse towards children most times go unnoticed. In March 2019, the police in England & Wales recorded 73,260 sexual offences against children. According to UNICEF, at least 120 million girls worldwide under the age of 20 (about 1 in 10) have been forced to engage in sex or perform other sexual acts, although the actual figure is likely much higher. According to a report on sexual abuse among children in Ghana conducted by the non-governmental organization "Plan Ghana" in 2011, revealed that out of 100 cases who had been molested or abused, 53 cases actually occurred at school. The other 43 took place at home. Roughly 90 per cent of adolescent girls who report forced sex say that their first perpetrator was someone they knew. Most often, abuse occurs at the hands of someone the child knows and trusts. Evangelist Ruthy @speakoutout shares her story with us and how she healed and is also helping others heal.
