Progressive Muscle Relaxation is a two-step process. It begins with tensing particular muscle groups and ends with releasing the tension and noticing how your muscles feel when you relax them.
It is used to help lower overall tension, stress levels, and anxiety.
Here’s how you do it.
Start with a muscle group, maybe your feet or hands.
Take a slow, deep breath and squeeze the muscles as hard as you can for about 5 seconds. You may shake a little.
Then exhale as you release the tension.
IMPORTANT! Be sure to focus on and notice the difference between the tension and relaxation.
Then move onto the next muscle group. If starting at your feet, move up to your legs and tense each muscle group, then release. Continue moving up your body to the top of your head.
I hope this is helpful and relaxing, if you would like to talk to me further about your health goals I am offering a 30 minutes wellness audit, here is the link to book in one of the three spots available this week.
