Here’s a story that reveals the secret to us #BecomingOurBest.

A traveler went on a business trip.

While in the jungle, he saw lots of beautiful multicolored talking parrots.

He decided to capture a talking parrot and take it back as his pet.

At home, he kept his parrot in a cage, feeding him wonderful seeds and playing soothing music for him.

When it was time to go on another business trip, the traveler asked if there was any message that he could deliver back to his friends in the jungle.

The parrot told his master to tell his friends he was very happy in his cage, he was enjoying each day, and loved them.

When the traveler delivered the message to the parrots…Just as he was finishing his message a parrot with tears welling up in his eyes fell over dead.

The man was alarmed and decided that the parrot must be very close to his pet back at home.

When the traveler returned home, he told his pet what had happened.

As he finished his story, his pet parrot’s eyes welled up with tears and he keeled over dead in his cage.

The man was shocked but figured his pet died from despair of hearing of the death of his close friend back in the jungle.

The traveler opened the cage and tossed the bird outside on a woodstack. Immediately the pet bird flew up to a branch on the tree outside.

The traveler said, “Why would you do that? Why would you play dead? You tricked me.”

And the bird responded: “Because that birdb ack home sent me a very important message.”

“What was the message?”

“That if you want to escape from your cage, you must die while you are alive.”

Upfront, we only know what we have to change right now.

On our deathbed, we’ll know everything we had to change on the path to #BecomingOurBest.

Let’s do what we can, with what we have, where we are.

We won’t know how far we’ll go or all the changes we’ll make until death is staring us in the eye, because we live in…
